Has artificial intelligence changed the entertainment industry for the better?

The entertainment industry is booming, and AI has been instrumental in this change. Many specialists withinside the fields of filmmaking, marketing, advertising, are ready for AI to unleash a completely new face to the entertainment industry. Most of the industry undertakes AI to power investments and create content that grabs the eye of the audience. Augmented Intelligence and robots find potential viewers and offer them a remarkable next-gen experience. Tech and Entertainment giants like Blizzard Entertainment, Google, Walt Disney World, Intel, and Microsoft are well-known for introducing AI-based innovations to the field of entertainment.


Let’s discuss how OTT platforms particularly Netflix have been using AI in order to provide a better experience for their customers.

  1. Personalization of Movie Recommendations – Netflix uses the previous history of other interests with similar interests, recommending that you look forward to watching more so that you stay engaged and further your monthly membership.

  2. Auto-Generation of Thumbnails – Showing video frames as an initial point for thumbnail generation or using hundreds of frames from an existing film, Netflix illustrates these photos and then tries to determine which thumbnails are the most recognizable in your click.

  3. Streaming Quality – Using past view data to assess bandwidth usage to help Netflix decide when to cache local servers during peak load times or during peak demand.


It’s evident that AI has significantly changed the game in the entertainment industry but there are a few things we need to consider such as the high costs of using AI, the changing dynamic environment, and one the riskiest, the threat of unemployment due to machinery replacing people.


However, as the need for competition and efficiency in the industry increases, the role of AI in the entertainment and media industry is only expected to increase in the coming years. AI is a powerful engine for distance change that reshapes the landscape of the field. The entertainment and media industry is expected to increase only in the coming years and I truly believe that it can enhance and improve the quality of the entertainment industry.
